Capture the Fine Things
I think of the nice things
in life that we share:
the stars in the sky,
the freshness of air;
the colors of autumn
and a tree on a hill;
a bird in the springtime
with a worm in its bill;
the capture of friendship
and understanding within;
a baby’s first step
and the challenge to win.
These, only small things,
seem the biggest to me,
for we can’t control them—
they just Susan Gebhardt come to be.
