On the cover: The beautiful hills of Northeastern Wyoming. Photography by Anselm Spring. A convert of the Church from Germany, Brother Spring has won international awards for his photography.

Inside front cover: Harvest Field, by John Hafen, 30″ by 41″, oil on canvas, 1901. Located in the Church Historical Department.

In this warm scene of a corn harvest in the Rocky Mountains, John Hafen’s artistic ability is clearly evident. Born in 1856, Hafen studied art in Paris and later helped paint the murals in the Salt Lake Temple.

Inside back cover: First Plowing in the Valley, by Minerva Teichert, 44″ by 68″ ,oil on canvas, mid-twentieth century. Located in the Church Historical Department.

This scene of the Saints sowing their crops in the Salt Lake Valley is one of many that Minerva Teichert (1889–1976) produced on Church history themes. She also painted the mural in the world room of the Manti Temple.
