He Is at Peace

Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

My brethren and sisters, it would be inappropriate for me to try to add to that which has been so beautifully said. I should just like to leave one thought. It has been my great privilege and opportunity to work at President Kimball’s side in the harness of the work of the Lord. On one occasion I tried to slow him down a little, and he said, “Gordon, my life is like my shoes—to be worn out in service.” He so lived. He so died. He has gone to the company of Him whose servant he was, even the Lord Jesus Christ, of whom he bore witness and testimony.

Said the Savior to his Apostles as he was about to leave them, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27.) He is at peace. He is making an accounting of his service.

To Sister Kimball, to his family, to all of us who loved him—“let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” I testify of his goodness and of the divinity of his call, in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
