President John Taylor was born here in Milnthorpe, Westmoreland County, England, on 1 November 1808. He was ordained to the Quorum of the Twelve on 19 December 1838, and as President of the Church on 10 October 1880. He died on 25 July 1887, at age seventy-eight.
