Decorated for the Christmas season, the Eagle Gate in Salt Lake City is shown as it would have appeared in the mid-1800s, with pioneer buildings that are now no longer standing. The gate spans State Street at the intersection of State Street and South Temple Street. To the right, not shown in the painting, is Brigham Young’s home, the Beehive House. Located on the banks of the Snake River in eastern Idaho, the Idaho Falls Temple was dedicated on 23–25 September 1945 by President George Albert Smith. A twelve-foot-tall statue of the angel Moroni was added to the spire on 5 September 1983.
