This painting of Salt Lake City’s South Temple Street depicts the street’s layout as it would have appeared in 1894. These landmarks are all still in place today, though Eagle Gate was widened in 1963.

Inside back cover: The Aaronic Priesthood Restoration Site, by Frank Magleby, oil on gesso panel, 30″ x 40″, 1995. This painting portrays a present-day scene along the banks of the Susquehanna River near Harmony, Pennsylvania, where the Aaronic Priesthood was restored to the Prophet Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery on 15 May 1829. Regarding this event, the Prophet explained that John the Baptist “confer[red] the Priesthood of Aaron, which holds the keys of the ministering of angels, and of the gospel of repentance, and of baptism by immersion for the remission of sins” (JS—H 1:69).
