On this wintry night in Salt Lake City after the turn of the century, President Joseph F. Smith says good-bye before leaving on an assignment. Prior to his 17 years as Church President, President Smith served 35 years as counselor in the First Presidency with Presidents Brigham Young, John Taylor, Wilford Woodruff, and Lorenzo Snow.
