Helps for Home Evening

“Qualified through Church Service,” page 38: Summarize the article and have each family member think of the callings they hold or have held in the past. Ask each person to share what skills they have gained as a result of their Church service that might help them in other aspects of life. Consider expressing your feelings to any children in the family about the importance of accepting callings and about the blessings that come as you faithfully serve in the Church.

“A Little Heaven on Earth,” page 44: As a family, discuss what qualities are needed to create a celestial family. Share those parts of the article that are applicable to your situation. Read the paragraphs about mountain climbing and then set a goal that will allow you to “reach the summit.” As a married couple, you may wish to read and discuss the entire article together.

“The Eternal Nature of Marriage,” page 50: After reading the article, consider asking the following questions: What does the phrase “therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife” teach us about our Heavenly Father’s desire for our marriage? How is our family exercising faith in eternal marriage? You may consider reviewing The Family: A Proclamation to the World as part of the lesson.
