“The Sign,” Friend, Dec. 1973, 13
The Sign
The evening meal was ready
And the family joined in prayer,
But as they watched the sun go down,
A brightness lingered there.
The streets soon filled with people
Who were frightened by the light;
Yet in this home the family stayed
And listened on that night
While Father told the story
Of the prophet Samuel
Who had foretold the Savior’s birth
And then went on to tell
About the tiny Christ child
And the gifts He would receive
While angels sang not far away
That blessed Christmas Eve.
