Friend to Friend:
Conference Talk Thoughts
Who are you? You are all the sons and daughters of God. Your spirits were created and lived before the world was. You have been blessed to have a physical body because of your obedience to certain commandments in that premortal state. You are now born into a family to which you have come as a reward for the kind of lives you lived before you came here.
What a difference it would make if we really sensed our divine relationship to God, our Heavenly Father, to Jesus Christ, our Savior, and to each other.
President Harold B. Lee
It matters not what our nationality, our race, or our culture. We build security and strength in our lives by living the gospel.
Elder James A. Cullimore
This world was created for you as much as anyone else. Christ came to atone for you. The gospel was restored for you. The Lord will answer your prayers. God is mindful of you, for you are a son or daughter of God.
Elder Eldred G. Smith
Christ said, “Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” We should remember that our nearest neighbors are the members of our own family. Next are those living next door to us—in the same block, the same city, the same state, the nation, yes, even the whole world. All whom we associate with or influence in any way are our neighbors.
Elder O. Leslie Stone
Some of you attend schools where there are few Church members. If you conduct yourselves properly and develop your personality along Church standards, your candle will be high on a hill and will burn brightly for all to see.
Elder David B. Haight
Choose from among the sacred music of the Church a favorite hymn, one with words that are uplifting and music that is reverent. Perhaps “I Am a Child of God” would do. Go over it in your mind carefully. Memorize it. Now use this hymn as the place for your thoughts to go.
Elder Boyd K. Packer
There is no substitute for work. You cannot be lazy. The Lord expects us to be industrious. He expects us to be mentally and physically ambitious with all our hearts and souls.
Bishop Vaughn J. Featherstone
The girls of today will be the women of tomorrow, and it is necessary that they prepare for that role. Girls, don’t underestimate your influence on your brothers. As you live worthy of their love and respect, you can help to determine that they will be clean and virtuous, successful and happy.
Pres. N. Eldon Tanner
What a marvelous thing to know that we are the children of God the Eternal Father and that we will be able to live in His presence and know who He is, and His Son Jesus Christ, who arose from the dead and atoned for the sins of the world.
Elder LeGrand Richards
Sustain and respect your father in his position. Give him love, understanding, and some appreciation for his efforts.
Elder James E. Faust
We are most blessed having a living prophet in our beloved Harold B. Lee. He is a great individual and one we can admire, respect, and look up to for teaching, counsel, and guidance.
Elder Delbert L. Stapley
All the prophets from Adam to President Harold B. Lee, our present prophet, have testified that Jesus Christ, the firstborn spirit son of God, was so chosen to be and is our Redeemer.
Pres. Marion G. Romney
If the Lord himself were here, those statements that come from His prophets are the very things that He would say to us at this time.
Elder Bruce R. McConkie
