“Think Spring,” Friend, Apr. 1975, 20
Think Spring
Winter is over. The weeds know the way
Of seasons changing. Their green sprouts say,
“Put up the winter things. Think spring!
See, we are sprouting—ready to swing
Up into sunshine and clean, sweet air.
Look! Look! Spring’s everywhere!”
Spring’s everywhere. It’s true! It’s true!
Little new buds creep into view.
Cracks in the sidewalks are showing green
Where weeds find space to push between
The rocky sides. And sunbeams dance
Among the green sprouts! Just let your glance
Sweep over earth and you’ll agree
That winter’s gone, and spring is free!
