“Come Trim the Tree!” Friend, Dec. 1979, 31
Come Trim the Tree!
It’s time to trim the tree again;
Go bring the boxes in!
Find gleaming balls—red, blue, and gold,
And then we can begin.
First wind the twinkly lights around,
And hang the silver bell.
Place close up front, where it will show,
The tiny wishing well.
We’ll heap some shiny popcorn strings
Like snow upon our tree.
Bright tinsel shines like icicles—
Rainwashed and shimmery.
Now hang some gauzy angels high
Like those who watched the earth.
Place on top some shiny stars
To tell of Jesus’ birth.
