I Wonder …

When Mary sang her lullaby

in Bethlehem of old,

Did white lambs find a refuge there,

safe in the manger fold?

When Mary walked beside her Son

and knelt with Him to pray,

Did songbirds hush above His head,

and lilies turn His way?

When children heard His gentle voice

and looked into His eyes,

Did they in innocence believe

and follow One so wise?

When Mary wept on Calvary,

did small things share her tears?

I wonder … did they know His love

would comfort all our years?
