“Christmas Wishes,” Friend, Dec. 1981, inside front cover
Christmas Wishes
I’m thinking about you, badger,
Asleep in your winter den.
I’m thinking about you, ground squirrel,
And remembering the bright days when
You scampered up in our treetops
With never a thought of snow.
I’m thinking about you, brown bear,
Tucked safe from winds that blow.
I think about you, bumblebee queen,
And all creatures wrapped in sleep.
I’m thinking, and I’m sending you
Good wishes so you’ll keep
Safe and warm and resting well
Until springtime days come near.
I’m wishing you sweet Christmas dreams
And a happy bright New Year.
