“Trimming the Tree,” Friend, Dec. 1983, 39
Trimming the Tree
I hang the strands of tinsel
With care upon the tree,
For there in each is captured
A tender memory.
The tiny elves, the reindeer,
Each fragile ball or toy,
The angel, and the star on top
Recall a time of joy.
Each time these happy moments
Bring thoughts of those so dear;
Each tree’s a shining jewel
To treasure year by year.
