“Mud Puddles,” Friend, June 1986, 27
Mud Puddles
I keep an eye upon the sky,
And when dark clouds come scudding,
I rush to put on rubber boots
And run out to go mudding.
I love to walk in puddles
And wander in the rain.
Mum says, “That’s all you think about;
You’ve puddles on the brain.
“Yet, you don’t care for bathtubs;
You’ve no time for indoor showers.
But outside in the puddles
You stay for hours and hours.”
My mum just doesn’t understand;
And it’s so hard to explain
That water in the bathtub
Is just water down the drain!
