Worm Farm
To make a worm farm, you will need: a clean glass jar, damp soil, damp sand, worms, fresh leaves, cheesecloth, a rubber band, black paper, and tape.
-
Fill 1/3 of the jar with damp soil.
-
Add a slightly smaller layer of damp sand.
-
Fill the jar with damp soil up to 2″ (5 cm) below the top.
-
Add worms and fresh leaves.
-
Cover the top of the jar with the cheesecloth and hold it in place with the rubber band.
-
Wrap the black paper around the jar; secure it with tape.
-
After a few days, remove the black paper. What have the worms done to the sand and soil?
-
To keep the worms, continue to add fresh leaves and make sure that the soil stays moist.
