“Signs of Spring,” Friend, Mar. 1995, 34
Signs of Spring
The leafless trees stand shivering,
For March winds still are cold;
But yellow jasmines wave their plumes,
And daffodils unfold.
Two robins hop across the lawn,
Then fly from tree to tree,
Deciding where to build their nest
And raise a family.
The cold, gray sky and naked trees
Can’t make the day seem drear,
For God has sent the signs of spring
To cheer us every year.
