“Jesus Prays,” Friend, Aug. 1996, 24 Jesus Prays As he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray (Luke 11:1). Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray (Matt. 19:13). After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. … (Matt. 6:9.) And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it. (Matt. 26:26–27.) And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt (Matt. 26:39).
