Enoch Builds Zion
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth (Rom. 1:16).
Enoch was traveling among the people when the Spirit of God came upon him and a voice from heaven spoke to him. He was told to preach the gospel of repentance to the people, to say, “Choose ye this day, to serve the Lord God who made you” (Moses 6:33).
But Enoch was afraid. He reminded the Lord that he had a hard time speaking and that the people hated him because of it. The Lord answered, “Open thy mouth, and it shall be filled, and I will give thee utterance. … All they words will I justify; and the mountains shall flee before you, and the rivers shall turn from their course; and thou shalt abide in me, and I in you; therefore walk with me” (Moses 6:32, 34).
Believing the Lord would do as He promised, Enoch went among the people and taught them. So powerful was his teaching that the people trembled. So great was Enoch’s faith and the Lord’s blessing, that he “spake the word of the Lord, and the earth trembled, and the mountains fled, even according to his command; and the rivers of water were turned out of their course; and the roar of the lions was heard out of the wilderness; and all nations feared greatly, so powerful was the word of Enoch, and so great was the power of the language which God had given him” (Moses 7:13). Slowly the people came to believe his words and to act on them. And “the Lord came and dwelt with his people, and they dwelt in righteousness” (Moses 7:16). Their city was called Zion. Enoch found great joy in sharing the gospel with his people. We, too, can feel that joy when we obey the commandments and share the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Color the flannel-board figures, then mount them on heavy paper. Cut them out and use them to retell the story of Enoch.
