Serving your family by preparing a meal for them can be lots of fun. You can prepare these recipes for lunch or dinner with a parent’s or another older person’s help. The “Plum Buns” or the “Baked Apples” would also make a fun and delicious family home evening treat.

6 cups water
1 1/2 cups elbow macaroni
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 cups milk
1 1/2 cups grated mild cheddar cheese
-
In a large pan, bring the water to a boil. Add the macaroni and cook 10 minutes or until tender.
-
Carefully drain the water off the macaroni. Rinse it with cold water, drain it again, and set it aside.
-
In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Using a wooden spoon, stir in the flour and the salt. Slowly mix in the milk, and cook and stir with a wire whisk until thick and bubbly.
-
Add the cheese and stir until it is blended.
-
Mix the macaroni into the cheese sauce; serve warm.
