Dear Parents and Teachers,

Dear Parents and Teachers

Many countries celebrate Mother’s Day this month, which makes it a great time to encourage children to express gratitude for the women in their lives. You can use the matching game on page 15 to start a conversation about the faithful women you know. Then read “Smiles and Sego Lilies” (page 28). Help children make a flower for someone special using the instructions on page 27.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Family Home Evening Ideas

Repentance: Everyone makes mistakes. Read “Honest Gabe” (page 8) and do the object lesson on page 10 to talk about repentance. Share the story of “The Prodigal Son” on page 40 and the scripture figures on the inside back cover. How can you show love for those who are trying to repent?

Family History Mystery: Use your detective skills to uncover clues about your family history (page 30). Choose a family photo. Who’s in the picture? What are they doing? Add the info to your detective file. If you need more file labels, visit friend.lds.org.

Baptism: Is anyone in your family preparing for baptism? Use the poem on page 24 to talk about the ordinance. Read “Jacob’s Baptism Interview” (page 22). Talk about what you can do to honor your covenants. There’s also a poster on page 11!

Missionary Work: With your family, act out “What It Means to Be a Member” (page 12) and “Cody and the Campout” (page 16). What do these stories teach us about being missionaries and good examples? What missionary goals does your family have?
