“Family Night Fun,” Friend, January 2019
Family Night Fun
Here are ideas you could use for home evening.
Song: “Jesus Once Was a Little Child” (Children’s Songbook, 55)
Scriptures: Luke 2:40, 52
Activity
-
Read the story about Jesus in Friend Junior. Talk about how Jesus grew up in the same ways we do.
-
Then color, cut out, fold, and tape together the cube on the next page.
-
Take turns rolling the cube. Read the cube and do the pose or roll again.
-
Everyone stay posed until they say one thing they’re doing to grow in that way. Once everyone shares, the next person rolls.
-
Talk about what your family can do to help each other grow in good ways like Jesus did. (See *CFM, page 12.)
Coconut Ice
Mix 1 cup shredded coconut, 2 cups coconut water, 1 cup milk, 1 14-oz. (400-ml) can condensed milk, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Pour into cups or plastic bags. Put in freezer for at least 4 to 6 hours.
(This recipe goes with the story on page 16!)
More Ideas
-
Read the message from President Nelson on page 2 and the story on page 4. Then send us a flower for the Kindness Garden!
-
Read “Testimony Plants” (page 8) and invite family members to share their testimonies. (See *CFM, page 3.)
-
Start reading the New Testament scriptures and coloring the chart on pages 24–26.
Jesus Learned and Grew
As a child, Jesus grew in the same ways you are growing! Make this cube to use for the activity on page 6.
Jesus loves you! Roll again.
“And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man” (Luke 2:52). Roll again.
Jesus grew “in wisdom.” He learned new things.
Jesus grew “in stature.” His body grew.
Jesus grew “in favour with God.” He learned from and followed Heavenly Father.
Jesus grew “in favour with man.” He made new friends.
