Covenants with God
Adapted from “Covenants and Responsibilities,” Liahona, May 2024, 93–96.
A covenant is a commitment to do certain things. For example, doctors and firefighters covenant to help others. Missionaries promise to serve people and teach the gospel.
Prophets like Nephi and Isaiah wrote about the covenants Heavenly Father made with His people long ago. We can read about them in the scriptures.
When God called Joseph Smith as the prophet, He guided Joseph to restore covenants that had been lost. Joseph taught Church members about baptism, the sacrament, and the temple.
Today, President Nelson teaches us to follow the covenant path. Temples are being built all over the world. This helps more Church members make covenants with God.
I testify that if you strive to keep your covenants, Jesus Christ will bless you.
Remember Your Covenants
President Oaks taught about how special objects can help us remember our covenants. For example, a wedding ring reminds people of their marriage covenants.
Decorate this shield to remind you of the covenants you have made or will make! As we keep our covenants, Heavenly Father protects us, and we can stay close to Him.
