“Fear Not,” For the Strength of Youth, Feb. 2021, 32.
Line upon Line
Fear Not
The Lord has told us how to live without fear.
Fear not to do good
The Lord wants us to do good, so we shouldn’t be afraid to do it.
Sow … reap
To sow means to plant seeds. To reap means to harvest what you planted. This is sometimes called “the law of the harvest.” If you plant good seeds, you’ll harvest good food. If you plant bad seeds, you’ll harvest bad food. Doing good is like planting good seeds. You’ll receive good rewards.
I do not condemn you; go your ways and sin no more
The Lord can forgive us if we repent. We shouldn’t let our past sins keep us from repenting, moving forward, and doing good.
With soberness
In a serious, calm, thoughtful manner.
Look unto me in every thought
This is another way of saying “always remember him,” as we promise to do in the sacrament.1
Behold the wounds
The wounds in the hands, feet, and side of Jesus Christ are signs that He was crucified and resurrected.2 They show us that He has overcome all things. This gives us strength and courage so that we do not need to doubt or fear.
Inherit
Heavenly Father will give us everything He has if we obey Him.
