Making the First Hymnbook
Church members in the 1830s loved sacred hymns.
They wanted to know which songs they could sing in Church meetings.
Through the Prophet Joseph Smith, the Lord gave a revelation to Emma Smith on how she could help.

Emma worked with other members to collect and write hymns.
By early 1836, the first hymnbook was available.
“For my soul delighteth in the song of the heart” (Doctrine and Covenants 25:12).
