Hi! My name is Mery V.

I’m 16 years old, and I live in Phnom Penh, the capital city of Cambodia. I like to play sports with my friends, and I love to learn new things.

I used to compare myself to other people who I thought had a much better life than me, especially people who had more stable finances. However, as I prayed to Heavenly Father, He gave me confidence.

He Prepares the Way

I have learned that no matter my challenges, God will always be there with me and help me. I know that He has not given us any commandment unless He has provided the way for us to accomplish it (see 1 Nephi 3:7).

My favorite thing about being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is that I believe I will be able to live in heaven with my family again after we die. I have a happy family, who are a good example to people around them. They are very giving in their love and help me become stronger.

Faith Brings Confidence

Being a member of the Church is not hard for me because my faith in God helps me be confident and have a better life. I’m really happy on Sunday mornings because I can go to church with my family. We usually read scriptures before bed, and sometimes we learn from Come, Follow Me.

The first temple in Cambodia was announced in 2018. It is currently under construction and will be in Phnom Penh.

Mery speaks the Khmer language, one of the 12 major languages spoken in Cambodia.

There are about 15,600 Church members in Cambodia, with two stakes consisting of 10 wards and 18 branches.

There is one mission in Cambodia.

Volleyball is the most popular sport in Cambodia. A sport called sepak takraw, or kick volleyball, is also popular.

Cambodia is famous for its ornate Buddhist temples. There are around 4,000 of them throughout the country!
