4 Ways You Can Become More Like Christ
Need some ideas for participating in the Children and Youth program? Here are some things youth in the Philippines are doing!
1. Serve like Him (Service and Activities)
You become more like the Savior by serving others as He would. And it doesn’t have to be hard! Service can be as easy as participating in Young Men or Young Women activities, doing baptisms for the dead, or sending a kind message to a friend. How can you serve others?
“As a young woman, I love serving my fellow young women and ministering to them. I know that I am helping gather Israel, even in my own ward.”
Jana, 17
“When I think about service, I think about my duty and responsibility as a deacon to help pass the bread and water of the sacrament every Sunday. I know that Jesus Christ is the perfect example of service.”
Josh, 13
2. Grow like Him (Personal Development)
You can set goals to grow more like the Savior spiritually, physically, socially, and intellectually (see Luke 2:52). Ask Heavenly Father how He wants you to grow, and then make a plan and act! How can you grow more like the Savior?
“Because of Heavenly Father’s love for us, He blesses us with gifts and talents. For me, I feel joy every time I dance and most especially when I share it by teaching others. It’s a great way to strengthen my faith in my Savior, build my confidence, and even meet new friends. But one of the best things about it is that I make my parents, siblings, and friends happy. I know we are given gifts and talents for the benefit of others, and that is what makes me joyful when I dance.”
Leigh, 16
3. Learn of Him (Gospel Learning)
You become more like the Savior as you study the gospel and then act on the things you learn. You learn about Him in your personal study and as you attend church and seminary, for example. How can you learn more about the Savior?
“Attending my Young Women class and listening to the speakers during Sunday services gives me knowledge. The words of God, when applied to our lives, become wisdom.”
Mia, 12
“Prioritizing seminary is easier said than done. But as you pray and think about why spiritual learning is important, the decision won’t be as hard. It helped me get to know my Savior, draw closer to Him, and grow with Him.”
Dzuliah, 19
4. Turn to Him
As you strive to become more like Christ, make sure your focus is on Him! He is “the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). Sometimes it can feel hard to do all the things you need to, but as you focus on the Savior and what He would do, you can know what is most important.
“My love for Jesus Christ influences me in making important decisions because I strive to imagine what He would do. I’ve made poor decisions in the past because of not having my love for my Savior as my focus. I know that we are not perfect, but by following Jesus Christ and keeping His commandments, we can show our love for Him and become more like Him.”
Justine, 15
