A Higher Joy

I have experienced for myself the glorious dawn that fills the soul with joy. I have discovered for myself that this peaceful confidence comes from following the Savior and walking in His Way.

God gives a joy that transcends anything this world offers. It is a joy that endures heartbreak, penetrates sorrow, and diminishes loneliness.

As You Seek Joy, Know That:

• Mental and emotional challenges are real. For some people, finding joy may include seeking help from trained mental health professionals.

• Feeling sad is not a sign of failure. In this life, at least, joy and sorrow are inseparable companions.

Invitations to Find Joy

1. Spend time in a sincere, full-hearted effort to draw near to God.

2. Look for it. Seek diligently for everyday moments of hope, peace, and joy.

3. Bring joy to others around you. You might try:

   • Praying for someone.

   • Giving a sincere compliment.

   • Helping someone feel welcomed and loved.

   • Sharing a favorite scripture and what it means to you.

   • Listening.

As you accept these invitations, you will experience “the peace of God, which passeth all understanding,” even in the midst of sorrows.
