How can we be unified if we’re all so diverse?

We’re all different. But the Lord wants us to “be one” (Doctrine and Covenants 38:27). Here are a few principles of unity that prophets and apostles have taught us:

We are united in Jesus Christ, His gospel, and His Church. “It is only in and through our individual loyalty to and love of Jesus Christ that we can hope to be one.”

Unity requires love. “Even with diversity of languages and beautiful, uplifting cultural traditions, we must have hearts knit in unity and love.”

Unity is not sameness. “Unity and diversity are not opposites. We can achieve greater unity as we foster an atmosphere of inclusion and respect for diversity.” “Unity does not require sameness, but it does require harmony.”

Unity requires banishing contention and prejudice. “There is room for everyone. However, there is no room for prejudice, condemnation, or contention of any kind.”
