Come, Follow Me
The Most Precious Gifts
In this season of gift giving, focus on the amazing gifts Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ give to you and what you, in return, can give to Them.
Gifts We’ve Been Given
The prophet Moroni reminds us that “every good gift” comes from Christ (Moroni 10:18). Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are the ultimate gift-givers! If we tried to make a list of every gift They have given us (like the air we breathe, the rain, the ability to sing and dance, and so on), the list could go on forever! Everything good in our lives comes from the Savior and Heavenly Father.
Here are just a few of Their gifts to us:
-
Christ’s life, death, atoning sacrifice, and Resurrection (see John 3:16)
-
The possibility for eternal life—“the greatest of all the gifts of God” (see John 10:28; Doctrine and Covenants 14:7)
-
The Savior’s example (see John 13:15)
-
Baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost (see 2 Nephi 31:12; John 14:16)
-
The priesthood, or God’s authority and power on earth (see Moses 6:67; Matthew 10:1)
-
God’s commandments (see John 13:34)
-
Wisdom and knowledge (see James 1:5; 2 Nephi 28:30)
-
Covenants and ordinances, like the sacrament and temple endowment (see Matthew 26:26–28; Doctrine and Covenants 124:39)
-
Weakness—yep, that can be a gift too! (see Ether 12:27)
-
Unique spiritual gifts (see Moroni 10:8)
These are just some of the many gifts that are mentioned in the scriptures, but there are lots more!
Challenge: Try to add to this list and see how long you can make it!
Gifts We Can Give
What can you give to someone who has already given you everything? The scriptures have some great ideas for gifts that you can give Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. (The scriptures also show us how They immediately bless us with more gifts when we give to Them.)

This Christmas, choose a gift that you can give the Savior and Heavenly Father. You can choose one to give from this list, find other ideas from the scriptures, or ask Heavenly Father for a specific and personal gift you can give. While your gift may not compare to Their gifts, your gift—if given with your heart—will still bring Them joy. As you do so, you can make this Christmas one to remember always!
