Daniel, a young Hebrew taken captive into Babylon, gained the king’s favor. The plotting of the jealous princes forced the king to condemn Daniel to death in the lions’ den. But because he was obedient to the Lord, Daniel was saved from harm. A contrite king declared that “men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God” (Dan. 6:26).
