Speaking Today

General Authorities regularly visit members of the Church across the world. Reports of their ministry can be found on news.lds.org as well as on Prophets and Apostles Speak Today at prophets.lds.org in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish. Here are brief accounts of recent travels.

  • President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Second Counselor in the First Presidency, spoke in May 2011 to 800 community, business, and religious leaders attending the Los Angeles World Affairs Council, a nonpartisan organization dedicated to furthering global understanding. President Uchtdorf talked about the growth of the Church from 1830 to today. Search “Uchtdorf, Los Angeles” on news.lds.org.

  • Elder Russell M. Nelson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles organized, in June 2011, the Moscow Russia Stake—the first in Russia and the second in the area covered by the former Soviet Union. More than 1,100 people attended. Search “Nelson, Moscow” on news.lds.org.

  • Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles visited India, Hong Kong (where he was joined by Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles), and then Mongolia in May 2011. Search “Holland, India” on news.lds.org.
