Highlights from the 191st Semiannual General Conference

We are changed when we apply the gospel truths that we learn. President Russell M. Nelson shared that simple but meaningful message to open and close general conference.

“The pure doctrine of Christ is powerful,” he said during his opening remarks. “It changes the life of everyone who understands it and seeks to implement it in his or her life.” The next day, in his concluding address, he said: “We have been well taught. … Now the question is, how will we be different because of what we have heard and felt?”

Among the many important lessons taught during this general conference:

• We learned it is time to implement extraordinary measures to strengthen our personal spiritual foundations (see President Nelson on page 93).

• We learned about the importance of discipleship as well as its simplicity (see President M. Russell Ballard on page 51, Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf on page 77, and Elder Gary E. Stevenson on page 47).

• We learned why we need the Church and that we can do a lot to bless others when we work together (see President Dallin H. Oaks on page 24, Bishop L. Todd Budge on page 100, Bonnie H. Cordon on page 10, and Sharon Eubank on page 53).

• We learned that loving God can help us overcome the divisions that keep us from becoming one (see Elder Jeffrey R. Holland on page 8, Elder D. Todd Christofferson on page 16, and Elder Dale G. Renlund on page 83).

• We learned that we can invite revelation into our lives through submission to the Lord’s will and that having and asking questions to which we don’t have answers is acceptable (see President Henry B. Eyring on page 74, Camille N. Johnson on page 80, and Susan H. Porter on page 33).
