What Did Isaiah Teach about the Gathering of Israel?
Isaiah used symbols to teach about the gathering of Israel. Consider this scripture: “And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth” (11:12).
An ensign is a flag or standard. Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles shared the story of how Church leaders in the pioneer era created an ensign, a “makeshift flag, declaring the valley of the Great Salt Lake and the mountains surrounding it as that prophesied place from which the word of the Lord would go forth in the latter days.”1
What other symbols and insights related to the scattering and gathering of Israel can you find in Isaiah chapters 2, 5, and 11?
How has our modern prophet helped us better understand the gathering of Israel?
It can be helpful to study what modern prophets have said about Isaiah’s teachings and the gathering of Israel. Consider looking through one of these general conference talks by President Russell M. Nelson and listing ways you can help gather Israel:
