Building Firm Faith through Spiritual Preparedness

In a time filled with spiritual challenges, prophets and apostles teach how our preparation greatly determines the outcome of those challenges in our lives.

In this issue, Elder Dale G. Renlund of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles shares how the faith, ingenuity, and tactics of Captain Moroni prepared his people so the Lord could bless them with success in the wars against the Lamanites.

To a defeated enemy leader, Moroni said, “The Lord … has delivered you into our hands. And now I would that ye should understand that this is … because of our religion and our faith in Christ” (Alma 44:3).

Elder Renlund writes: “Moroni modeled principles that we can apply to help us meet the challenges of our modern lives. As we exercise faith in Jesus Christ, … He will bless us with His power” (page 4).

Articles and stories in this issue demonstrate important ways we can do this. In my article, I write, “May we resolve—once and for all—to choose faith in Jesus Christ, a faith sufficient for all seasons of life” (page 44). As we do so, we will be better prepared to receive divine assistance in meeting our spiritual challenges.

Moroni “bowed himself to the earth, and he prayed mightily unto his God for the blessings of liberty to rest upon his brethren, so long as there should a band of Christians remain to possess the land.”
