Fruits and Vegetables
“All wholesome herbs [plants] God hath ordained for the constitution, nature, and use of man—every herb in the season thereof, and every fruit in the season thereof; all these to be used with prudence and thanksgiving.”
—Doctrine and Covenants 89:10–11
Fruits and vegetables should make up a significant portion of our diet. They contain many vitamins and minerals that aren’t found readily in other foods.
Vitamins and minerals are essential to almost every function in the body. Since our body can’t make these on its own, we need a regular supply from our diet. Different colored fruits and vegetables contain different nutrients, so try to eat a variety of colors.
Fiber is an important component in fruits and vegetables. It helps us to feel full and is also important for digestion and bowel movement. Not eating enough fruits and vegetables can lead to constipation.
Eating fruits and vegetables every day will give your body the nutrients it needs to function properly so you can serve the Lord and His children.
