“Prayer,” Who Is God?
Prayer
When you pray, you may follow a pattern such as the following:
-
Address our Heavenly Father (“Our Father in Heaven, …”).
-
Express the feelings of your heart (gratitude, questions, requests to confirm what is true, and so on).
-
Close (“in the name of Jesus Christ, amen”).
The following is an example of one individual’s first prayer after a missionary (Aaron) taught him how to pray:
“O God, Aaron hath told me that there is a God; and if there is a God, and if thou art God, wilt thou make thyself known unto me, and I will give away all my sins to know thee” (Book of Mormon, Alma 22:18).
Prayers are offered out loud in a group and can be offered either out loud or silently when praying alone.
-
Have you prayed before? If so, what has your experience been like?
