Contest Winners:
Worlds without Number

The theme for this year’s contest—“Worlds without Number”—took on a whole new meaning as we viewed box after box full of entries. The response eclipsed our expectations. Judging the entries became an almost astronomical task.

We can’t telescope into a few short paragraphs our feelings about everyone who made the effort. Certainly there’s nothing nebulous about our feelings of gratitude. As far as we are concerned, everyone who entered is a star.

Still, as we surveyed this creative galaxy, one constellation of stars seemed to stand out. And so we are proud to present this year’s stellar group of winners.

Randy developed two programs for the Commodore 64 computer. The first was a two-player video game called “Boxer” that allows opponents to simulate a boxing competition. The second program called “Fractals in Focus” allows the user to generate fascinating fractal shapes or designs called Julia sets.
