“Winter Dance,” New Era, Jan. 1992, 51
Winter Dance
Fall just fell
right through the floor
Leaves falling
leaving the trees vulnerable
Spiky, spindly branches
reach up to touch the sky
swaying in the wind
to nature’s music
Back and forth
they continue to dance
Branches reaching high
to the tip-top of the sky
reaching
stretching
day after day
swaying in the wind
Season after season
it happens again
The winter dance
performed by the trees
hails the coming of Spring.
