“Feedback,” New Era, Mar. 1993, 50
Feedback
Overcoming anger
After a few weeks of hard proselyting, my patience was wearing thin and I began to get angry at very small things. During a particularly discouraging day, I briefly scanned the pages of the March 1992 issue of the New Era. My eyes were drawn to the article “Flunked.” After finishing the story, I felt much better. I had been touched by the Spirit and the anger I was feeling was gone. That article has become a source of personal strength for me as I continue to share the gospel daily.

Feedback friends
I would like to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for a magazine that brought two of the best friends together. Twelve years ago I wrote to Feedback about a certain story in the New Era. Consequently I received a letter from a girl in Salt Lake City, and we have been writing ever since. The best news is that in May of 1992, Lori Wall and I met for the first time. I was a bit anxious about meeting her, but when we met it was as if we had known each other all our lives. We have been through a lot together and have grown spiritually stronger. She has seen me through the birth of my child, and I have seen her through her mission and marriage. Even though we were thousands of miles apart, our love stretched. And I have the New Era to thank for a special friend and an eternal sister.

A second guide
I can’t thank you enough for the story “Hold On” in the October 1992 issue. It is hard to live the standards of the Church, especially in school. I’m always looking for stories on how I can “hold on” and keep my standards high. After the scriptures, the New Era is like a second guide to me, and I am very grateful to all those who have a part in this great magazine.

The same experience
I wanted to send a letter of appreciation to you for the wonderful article “All That Work for Nothing” (Sept. 1992). I had the exact experience and was very upset for months until I read this story. I want to thank Katherine Strang for a story I know was truly inspired.

Say, then do
When I read your article “Julie’s Watching” (Jan. 1992) for the first time, I didn’t understand it thoroughly. But the second time I read it, the truthfulness of the article hit me. Living in a country away from home and attending a school where the only other Mormons are my brother and sister made me really think about how important it is that we follow what we preach. It is very easy to say one thing and follow another.

Still time to learn
I would like to thank you for the September 1992 New Era special issue “Learn Wisdom in Thy Youth.” It made me think about going back to school. I just didn’t want to go, but as I read the New Era it made me feel good about going back and trying my best. Thank you very much. It’s helped me a lot.
