“Today I Must Prepare,” New Era, May 1993, 50–51

Special Issue:
Aaronic Priesthood

In Tune:

Today I Must Prepare

Boldly

1. When I am twelve, a father’s hands rest gently on my head,

And I receive through him the right to serve and help and give.

Although I may not fully understand or always feel its power and its strength,

I know that God has chosen me to join his priesthood ranks!

Chorus

2. Now I shall work with my own hands, I’ll learn and share and grow.

And with my quorum seek the faith to live the truths I know.

And then as deacons, teachers, and as priests, these sacred truths we’ll honor and defend.

The work we’re starting here as boys, we’ll magnify as men!

Chorus

Chorus

Today we must prepare ourselves to give the gift of service.

God’s guiding hand will strengthen us and bless us and preserve us.

Then with his pow’r we’ll build and serve, and show love to our neighbor,

And share God’s message to the earth, of Jesus Christ, our Savior!
