“One Leaf,” New Era, Nov. 2002, 51
One Leaf
One dry leaf fell.
No one noticed.
It fell very gently
through the cold morning air,
dipping and swirling,
dancing down to the earth.
It just let go,
the tree of its life
and, putting on the most gay of colors,
died.
One dry leaf fell
through the morning air,
and no one noticed.
