Teaching Tip

Read your lesson early. Then you can be looking for situations or stories from real life concerning the principles you are going to teach. It’s best to use stories your class can relate to. Preparing early also allows time for inspiration.

Mutual Activity Idea

Read the article, “Room for Love,” on page 46. Ask your youth leaders to check with ward members to see if someone needs help fixing up a room. Your group could even offer to do a room makeover for a younger child. Plan carefully, and everyone can learn new carpentry or homemaking skills.

Personal Progress and Duty to God

Read the article, “Something Better to Do,” on page 14. Ask the elders quorum president in your ward if you can be of service to someone who is moving into or out of the ward. Helping with a move is a good way to welcome newcomers or say good-bye to old friends.

Family Home Evening Idea

Read the article on page 4, “Your Patriarchal Blessing,” by President James E. Faust. With your parents’ help, have your parents, your grandparents, or even your home teachers talk about when they received their patriarchal blessings. If appropriate, ask the bishop what you need to do to prepare to receive your patriarchal blessing.
