[Reach] out with love to share the truths of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.

It is impossible to fail when you do your best when you are on the Lord’s errand.

Elder M. Russell Ballard of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, October 2013 general conference

This month in your Sunday lessons, you’ll be studying about building the kingdom of God (see lds.org/youth/learn). As many Apostles have recently testified, a huge part of that work is sharing the gospel as member missionaries. But sometimes we hesitate to share the gospel, either out of fear or because we do not understand what missionary work is like, taught Elder M. Russell Ballard.

How can we overcome that fear? As Elder Ballard said, “Fear will be replaced with faith and confidence when members and the full-time missionaries kneel in prayer and ask the Lord to bless them with missionary opportunities. Then, we must demonstrate our faith and watch for opportunities to introduce the gospel of Jesus Christ to our Heavenly Father’s children, and surely those opportunities will come.”

Home Teaching

Ours is the sacred privilege to brighten, to touch, and to save those precious souls entrusted to our care.

President Thomas S. Monson, October 2013 general conference

One of this month’s Sunday lessons for Aaronic Priesthood asks, “How can I be a better home teacher?” If you’ve wondered the same thing, read President Monson’s talk “True Shepherds” at lds.org/go/123Shepherds. Here’s some of his inspiring counsel about home teaching:

  • “Home teaching is more than a mechanical visit.”

  • “Ours is the responsibility to teach, to inspire, to motivate, and … to bring to activity and to eventual exaltation the sons and daughters of God.”

  • “Home teaching answers many prayers.”

  • “Decide now to make whatever effort is necessary to reach those for whom you have been given responsibility.”
