An annotation may be placed on the record of a member whose conduct has threatened the well-being of other persons or of the Church. An annotation helps the bishop protect Church members and others from such individuals. When a bishop receives an annotated membership record, he follows the instructions in the annotation. (For details on when a record is annotated, see General Handbook, 32.14.5.)
Annotation will appear on:
The annotation message instructs bishops to go to the Confidential Member Information Report in LCR on ChurchofJesusChrist.org, where they can view the annotation script that contains certain restrictions placed on the member. Bishops and stake presidents may refer to this report at any time to review the list of members in their units who have confidential actions such as annotations on their membership records.
Note: The information on the annotation script should not be discussed with anyone other than the stake president.
