In our modern dispensation, Jesus Christ renewed His promise that “where two or three are gathered together in my name, … behold, there will I be in the midst of them” (Doctrine and Covenants 6:32). Most often, that gathering happens in meetings held in the different buildings of the Church. In order to help maintain the sacred and reverent nature of these buildings, “local leaders and members, including youth, have a responsibility to help keep each building clean and in good condition” (General Handbook: Serving in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 35.4.1, ChurchofJesusChrist.org). This goal is achieved as members work with the Church’s Facility Department in making care for the facilities a priority.
To simplify the interactions that happen between the Meetinghouse Facilities Department at Church headquarters and local facilities managers and local leaders, especially in the case of reporting a facility issue, those charged with caring for the buildings are invited to use the Facility Issue Reporting (FIR) app. Leaders can take advantage of this technology for submitting, tracking, and viewing a facility issue they may be experiencing. Additionally, facilities managers can provide updates on facilities issues, including their resolution, through FIR.
Leaders and members of ward and stake councils can access FIR through the Church’s website by logging into their Church Account and then, under the My Account and Ward menu, selecting the Facility Issue Reporting link. Any issues involving a facility can then be reported with the appropriate information.
A mobile app that you can install on your mobile device is also available. This productivity app can be downloaded as an Android app from the Google Play store and as an iPhone app in the Apple app store. The app can be used for reporting information regarding any facility issues.
If you are in a leadership role or are a member of a stake and ward council but you are experiencing difficulty downloading the FIR app, please first ensure that you are properly set up in the Member and Leader Services (MLS) system or Leader and Clerk Resources (LCR). Contact your local clerk to verify that your calling is correct in these systems. If you still experience difficulty, please contact the Global Service Center or visit the Help Center.
Complete instructions on how to access and use FIR can be found in the Help Center on ChurchofJesusChrist.org. Additionally, the FAQ page within the application provides instructions on how to complete specific actions, such as submitting a work order or reporting a facility issue.
As you use the FIR app, you’ll find it to be a valuable resource, thanks in part to a few key features:
The FIR app is a useful productivity app that can help care for and maintain facilities for members to participate in wholesome activities; worship and pray together; teach and minister to each other; and, most importantly, make and renew covenants through sacred ordinances. When facilities are properly cared for and maintained, these sacred buildings help to invite the Spirit and bring people to Jesus Christ. The FIR app helps to bridge the gap between the members who use the facilities and the Meetinghouse Facilities Department to resolve issues so that each facility can serve the purpose for which it was built.
