Who We Are

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints make up a diverse community of people around the world with a shared faith in God and His Son, Jesus Christ.

An Active Faith

Friends and Neighbors

You can find us living, working, and raising families all around the world. For us, being involved in our community is one way we can love our neighbor as Jesus taught.

Engaged Congregations

Instead of full-time paid clergy, we all play a part in our local congregations through leadership roles, speaking assignments, and other volunteer opportunities.

Support beyond Sunday

For us, church is more than Sunday worship—it’s also a place to find support through friendships and experiences that strengthen faith and offer practical help for life’s challenges.

We Learn Together

During the week, people of all ages gather in classes, such as seminary for youth or institute for young adults, to study the teachings of Jesus together.

We Serve Others

Service projects are a regular component of church activity and a key way we obey God’s commandment to love our neighbor.

We Build Relationships

Our congregations are a part of the neighborhoods where we live, and we work hard to be good neighbors and friends. Social activities are a fun and important part of building a church community.

We Strengthen Families

Strong family bonds make this life joyful and help us build the kind of world we want. Our church experience and services support deeper and more loving family relationships.

We Become Better

Becoming the kind of person we hope to be is an important part of our church life. Church programs help people learn and grow both spiritually and in practical ways through the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Church Leadership

“As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” –1 Peter 4:10.
First Presidency 2018

We Believe in Prophets and Apostles

Following the same pattern Jesus Christ established to lead His people in biblical times, the Church is led by a prophet and apostles today. These leaders serve and work under His inspired direction. You can learn more about them here.

Leaders Come from around the World

Men and women from all walks of life help direct the Church’s work on a worldwide and regional level. One example of this is the women who lead the Relief Society.

Local Leaders Are Everyday People

Instead of full-time paid clergy, local congregations are led by members of the Church who volunteer their time. They’re supported by other everyday Church members who help with everything from teaching Sunday School classes to cleaning the church building.

We Teach Each Other

When you visit our congregations, you’ll notice we teach each other and learn together from scripture. We believe everyone has something valuable to contribute, and so leaders ask a wide variety of people to preach over the pulpit, pray, and teach classes.
