An uplifting new part of your daily routine.

It’s an invitation from an apostle!

The most recent general conference included at least one invitation especially for the youth. Did you catch it?

It was from Elder Gary E. Stevenson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. He said:

“I close with an invitation especially for all youth! Many of you start your day by standing in front of a mirror. Tomorrow, this week, this year, always, pause as you look at yourself in the mirror. Think to yourself, or say aloud if you like, ‘Wow, look at me! I am awesome! I am a child of God! He knows me! He loves me! I am gifted—gifted with the Holy Ghost as my constant companion!’”1

It may seem small, or even silly, but positive thoughts about yourself (sometimes called “affirmations”) can have a huge impact on your emotional health. There’s so much negativity in the world that it’s almost impossible not to be affected by it. Even people who firmly believe that they are children of a loving God sometimes feel bad about themselves anyway.

So why not give Elder Stevenson’s suggestion a try? Take it seriously. Look at yourself in the mirror and think—or say—some positive things about yourself as a son or daughter of Heavenly Parents. The Holy Ghost, who testifies of truth, will help you feel the truthfulness of it:

You are a child of God. He does know you. And He does love you!
