Are Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ “one”?

The members of the Godhead are separate beings, united in purpose.

What we believe about the Godhead is different from many other faiths. After Jesus Christ died, some religious leaders decided that Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost were all the same being—the “Trinity.”

But prophets, including Joseph Smith, have testified that the members of the Godhead are individual, separate beings.

So what does it mean when the scriptures say They are “one”? For example, in Doctrine and Covenants 93:3, Jesus Christ says, “I am in the Father, and the Father in me, and the Father and I are one.”

What the Lord is teaching us is that the members of the Godhead are perfectly united. It’s like They are on the same team, all working together to help us return to our heavenly home. They each have a different role to play, but They work together as one.
